The styles of the past have been recycled to put form into the trends of the future. In the past years, everything has gone vintage. Accessories originally from decades in the past are now very in demand. Vintage pinups are also a thing in various fashion shoots. The fashion industry has shifted into clothes that would reminisce anything down memory lane. Even the hairstyles have a touch of vintage in them. Even plots have gone into period movies and settings dwell into the year of the 70’s, 60’s, 50’s, 40’s, 30’s and even the 20’s.

If you are wondering what a pinup is, it is a photograph of a famed model that is normally used by calendars and magazines in the past. The term pin up is derived from these pictures in calendars being literally pin up. Another distinct characteristic of pin ups is that it is usually mass-produced. This is to increase the popularity of the model, the brand she is endorsing and overall, to reach a wider range of people. Pin ups have given rise to literally unknowns because these are effective marketing strategies.

If one is looking to follow the steps of her favorite pin up girl, here are few yet reliable tips.

1. Research about vintage fashion. These include knowing the trends in those years including but not limited to outrageous hairstyles, flashy gowns and apparel, and intricate and detailed accessories.

2. Look out for vintage pictures and videos from your mom or your dad showing these famed pin up models. Before one can even consider herself pin up, she must know how to embody the perfect pin up girl not only from the clothes but also including how she moves, how she smiles, how she takes care of herself and how she carries herself.

3. Ask older people of the neighborhood about the vintage years. Ask questions like what made the pin up girls such a hit, who are their favorite pin up models among others.

4. Hire the most talented yet affordable photographer. He must be able to set the mood and create a resemblance to those years in your pictures. He must be able to guide you through the best angles that would make you look like the perfect pin up girl. He must also know about the pin up arena very well. Everybody can be her very own pin up model because of the photos.

5. You do not have to mass-produce your photos. Just because you are in the league of pin ups doesn’t mean you have to shed out money to scatter your pin up photos. It is enough that you have these pictures that will last you lifetime and bring memories of an impulsive yet fun early stages of life.

6. Think pin up. The only way you can become the perfect pin up girl is when you think you really are one. It is mind over matter – believing that you are would make you exude the right attitude.

Having all these in mind, you are on your way to your pin up holiday.

Your wedding day is often one that has been planned for many months; the memories of which will always stay with you. In the process of planning your wedding you have had to decide between a myriad of vendors who are hired to make your special day go smoothly and to help you infuse your wedding with personal style reflective of both of you. But when it comes to choosing vendors, none is ultimately more important than the photographer - simply because those photographs will tell the story of your wedding for years to come. When choosing the style of photography, you may want to consider fine art wedding photography – a unique way in which to capture your special day.

Fine art wedding photography takes the photographs taken at your wedding and turns them into works of art; a photographer skilled in such photography can manipulate the photographs in such a way that they will forever capture the spirit and style of your wedding day. Such photography is meant to be displayed throughout your home and passed on through the generations.

There are many photographers who are skilled in the more traditional styles of wedding photography. But, in this day and age, more and more photographers are exploring their more creative side and offering such creativity on to their clients. With the advent of the Internet, photographers have been able to showcase these skills; and clients are able to browse through the work of each photographer in an effort to find those photographers who are in line with the photography they envision for their wedding.

Once you find those photographers who are skilled in fine art wedding photography you should meet with them to determine if you like and trust them on a personal level. A photographer – more than any other vendor at your wedding – will be right along with you during the course of your wedding day. It is vitally important that you feel comfortable in their presence so that they are able to get the shots they need.

Fine art wedding photography can help you communicate the tone of your wedding for those who were not there and as memories for you to cherish for a lifetime.

Though most quality prints are printed on Archival papers, such as Fuji Crystal Archive Papers or Kodak Endura Professional Papers, it is essential to consider a few important aspects to maximize the life of any print you are planning to display.

Things to Avoid

* Avoid placing your Fine Art Prints in direct exposure to sunlight.

* Avoid places with high levels of moisture or humidity.

* Close to a source of direct heat, like near a wall heater, or a furnace.

Consider the Sun

If you are going to frame the print, and are planning on hanging it on the wall, you should consider the placement first of all. We recommend placing your print on a wall which does not receive direct sunlight. What’s wrong with sunlight? Well, sunlight is a full spectrum light, which means it packs many different frequencies of light, including UV (ultra-violet). The problem with UV is its effect on photographic papers. UV causes fading, simply put, regardless of the quality of paper used to produce the print. This does not mean that all prints, regardless of the paper, or method used to produce them, fade at the same rate.

Archival papers are meant to last. Special chemicals are used to protect these papers from long-term effects of UV, moisture and other factors. However, even archival prints are not immortal. While Archival papers are meant to last, over time they will also show signs of age. The good news? They will likely outlive you.

Print Comparison

If you were to compare a print produced on a high-end inkjet printer using standard inks to a Fine Art Print produced in a Lab on Archival paper, initially they may appear of equal quality. But many inks are water based, and are not rated for archival usage. Such a print, if displayed properly, will perhaps last 3 to 5 years before any fading becomes visible. On the other hand, an archival print, also displayed properly, will last 50 or more years. Back to Top.

To Summarize

Place your prints into a quality frame, and hang it somewhere out of sun’s direct rays. There’s nothing wrong with light falling on the prints. After all, full spectrum light means your photos are going to shine. Indirect light is best, because it will not accelerate natural aging of your prints, and will provide soft even illumination. In today’s hi-tech world you may be able to purchase a frame with UV shielded glass, which is ideal, if your prints are going to receive quite a bit of direct sun light.

Try to hang you photos away from sources of heat and moisture, because both cause materials such as paper, and glues or tapes used to mount photos into mats to warp. The last thing you want to see is your print rippling in its frame.

Like many people, I experienced years filled with personal challenges. For me, the challenge concerned my health. I spent endless hours in waiting rooms for doctor appointments and medical tests. The traits of hope, trust, perseverance, courage and faith became relevant and necessary ingredients in my life. In the midst of my stress, I looked for ways to achieve inner peace everywhere … on office walls, in a note, a magazine article. Inspirational phrases and peaceful nature scenes became a significant element for my healing process.

This experience introduced me to a new level of healing potential and it involves one’s atmosphere, the written word and visual presentation and interpretation. The knowledge that stress overwhelms adrenal glands is well documented. Adrenal gland exhaustion has a treadmill and snow-ball effect and complicates illness until healed. Stress equals more exhaustion and the person affected reacts to life circumstances rather than responding to situations. When life’s challenges result in a person feeling out of control and fearful, the mind and its potential to choose its attitude, intention and thoughts in any situation becomes a hidden potential for healing to assist any therapeutic modality. Thoughts can neutralize negative cell memory concerning body trauma and thoughts can neutralize emotional trauma. No matter what the diagnosis and health challenge, you can always choose your attitude and intentions.

So, what is the hidden healing potential that we all can choose? First, room decorations can be very important either as professional office decor, in one’s home or even counselor or teacher classrooms. As indicated, I intentionally searched office walls for inspiration. Inspirational fine art nature scenes with peaceful intentions can inspire self-awareness and human potential. Why is this important in the healing process? Inspirational art, and its visual impressions, inspires character development, inner peace and relaxation. In the midst of any stress, one can discover the attributes of hope, trust, perseverance, courage, faith and peace within the self and these are all healing attributes. Fine art nature scenes can be in the form of art posters with peaceful intentions, fine art greeting cards and inspirational nature photography creating an atmosphere of serenity, peace and hope.

So, allow the internet to support healing potential for yourself and others. Consider purchasing with a purpose. Buy online fine art posters with intentions for peace. Make a difference in someone’s life by sending or displaying greeting cards or peaceful note cards to inspire trust, hope and faith. Search for inspirational nature photography to display as your room atmosphere radiating a magnificence of natural beauty, serenity and relaxation. Let the online experience create hope for yourself, a client, a student, or a friend and celebrate life.

Photography is an art form that any camera owner can do. Not everyone can paint, but taking a picture can be done by almost anyone of any age.

The equipment that a photographer uses has become so technologically advanced, many people forget taking a basic picture can easily be performed. But, so many types of it exist today that the decision on which type to do is the issue.

Nature photography is just one type of art that many people enjoy doing. By taking pictures in nature, a person can not only feel like they are an artist, but they are also getting out in nature and enjoying the outside.

This outside experience will of course lead to exercise by trying to get just the right shot of the wildlife. And, if a picture turns out really well, then the photographer can enter a photography contest with their special captured moment.

Many people will enter their wildlife photography picture in the local fair. This is a good place to start, and who knows. One photography contest may lead to bigger and better things and more and more prizes to be had.

A type of it that many people enjoy is fine art photography. As a person becomes more experienced taking pictures, they may want to try and become a certified artist in it.

Fine art photography allows for different mediums and situations to be transformed. By working with different lights and exposure compensation, a simple picture can become a famous work of art.

Many websites on the web offer help with the making of fine art from photographs. A little research is all that is needed to find out how to get started in this creative outlet.

One other thing about it that a person must consider is whether they will do color or black and white photography. The black and white photos will appear to be more classic looking than the color pictures.

However, with color photos, all the tiny details such as the color of the shirt a person was wearing or the color of their favorite pet will be captured for years. Both types of film are available in the retail market making the decision about film choice completely up to the individual photographer.

Photography can be a wonderful creative outlet for most. Fine art photography and nature photography are just two types of it that a person can become interested in.

By picking up a camera, a person can transform themselves into an artist. No matter if the art is digital, black and white photography, or in color, the outcome will be the same. A beautiful moment in time that will last for generations to come.

The definition of fine art, as defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is “art concerned primarily with the creation of beautiful objects”. With such a “wide” definition of “beautiful objects”, the beauty is in the eyes of the photographer. Virtually anything can be fine art, a simple household item such as a fork, a nude body, travel, landscape, wildlife, a landscape. Not everyone will agree on what constitutes fine art, many years ago I was awed by the sight of the Sydney Opera House, and thought it was the most beautiful building In Australia. However I remember thinking that it perfectly complemented Australia, it would look pretty silly in the centre of Madrid. However if you don’t like the Sydney Opera House, then it does not matter how great the photo you are not going to like it. So whatever constitutes Fine Art photography is a pretty subjective decision. School of Photography give you a good idea of what will constitute in their view Fine Art photography.

For many photographers this is an ideal line of work, because it allows you to represent a part of your personality, through your work. It is possible to make a political statement by being a fine arts photographer. A clear analogy here would be the emergence of the acceptance of the gay male in photography, over the last thirty years. In it’s wide ranging definition it is possible to be more creative, and in this creativity be more personal.

There are a lot of resources on the Web regarding fine art. One of the better ones concerning resources and links is http://art-support.com/links.htm There are excellent links to photographers’ web sites, as well as grants available to the photographer. Because the definition of Fine Art photography is so wide, it has perhaps a more specific marketing need. Fortunately there are more ways to market them than just stock photographic galleries It may be advantageous for you to think about engaging the services of a full time sales representative. A sales representative will work with clients in the advertisement industry, the travel industry, and also graphic design firms. The advantage of employing a sales rep is that it leaves you free to create without the hassle of “cold selling”. If you are not a natural salesperson, it may be better for you to consider someone else doing the selling. That person should also be able to evaluate the true value of your work, be experienced enough to know where to get the prices, as well as having a proven track record in negotiating the best prices.

There are other advantages as well. Companies using a wide and diverse range of photographs, such as advertisement agencies, will have more time for a sales rep, who has a large portfolio of work, from different clients, than from one single photographer. By the nature of their work sales reps are normally found in larger cities and towns, they will have a large client base of their own, and will probably promote your work in specialised areas, such as food photographer, or portrait photographer. So how does the relationship work? Normally the sales rep will already have their own business, and they will work for you on a commission only basis. You will pay them approximately 30 percent of the assignment fee, that is the net fee, not the final figure with expenses added on.

How to work out if this relationship will be advantageous to you, balances many factors. If you have developed a highly personalised style as a photographer, then you need to target specific areas to sell the photographs. Perhaps you do not live in a large city and have the right contacts. You have already made a portfolio of work that you would like to specialise in. It may not be cheaper for you to hire a rep, because you may still have to advertise locally to maintain your own business that you have developed, but you are paying a rep on extra sales that you did not have before. It will certainly increase the profitability of your business if you have no time to devote to increasing the number of your clients. You have decided that this path is for you, - how do you go about it. One idea is to investigate the names of the best advertisement agencies nearest to you, your local reference library can be of assistance here, as can yellow pages. You can phone them direct and ask them the names and the contact numbers of their reps. The Writer’s Digest publish an annual “Photographer’s Market Book”, this book now lists photographic reps, and it will also help you market your work with lists of fine art reps, as well as galleries and stock agencies.

However you choose to market your business, the essence of what you need to do is to widen your client base. There is certainly more work in the marketing of certain photographs. However in today’s market place communication is as much as an art as creating the photographs. Not only is it important that you keep abreast with market trends, but you have to be in constant communication with your clients. Certain photographers’ enjoy the “Cut and Thrust” of aggressive marketing. If you don’t, then consider paying someone else to do it for you. Never underestimate the power of marketing, it is a very potent tool to help get your work shown to the people who are most likely to purchase it.

Do you really know as a photographer what you have to sell and it’s value. As a freelancer you can learn a great deal from advertising clients, They determine a niche for the product and then work on it’s development to promote it. A product is always promoted with a very specific client in mind. You must know your strengths as well as your weaknesses. For instance if you have a passion for taking seascapes, then it is pointless to advertise yourself as a portrait photographer. You need to find a way of getting your unique photographs to where they are going to maximise your profit.

Photographic collage artist Barbara Kruger contrasts mass media photographs with biting slogans. Her art probes mass media’s ways of controlling its readers’ self-identity, desire, and highlights its powerful grip on public opinion.

In their trademark black letters against red background, Barbara Kruger’s slogans are immediately recognizable. Her satirical text probes her audiences and their perception. Issues addressed include feminine roles and self-images in society, consumerism and at times politics. She questions individual autonomy and desire.

Her feminist works examines how gender differences are reinforced in the media. In traditional media, film and advertising, women are displayed as ‘objects of desire’ for male audiences. When the media targets women themselves with consumer messages, the media makes women subjects, but only as patrons of desirable images of themselves.

Barbara Kruger’s black-and-white images are often taken from popular magazines which promote the ideas that Barbara Kruger disputes. Her clever questioning approach is formulated through a vague, unclear use of “I”, “you” and “we”. As viewers of her work, we are often not sure who is the speaker and who is talked about or talked to. Samples of her slogans are: “Your body is a battleground” and “You are not Yourself”.

Besides showing around the world in museums & galleries, Kruger’s work has appeared on billboards, t-shirts, bus cards, posters, a public park, a train station platform in Strasbourg, France, and in other public commissions.

After Syracuse School of Visual Arts and Parson’s School of Design, Kruger commenced a professional career in graphic design/ She worked on magazines like Mademoiselle and other publications. This background in design can be clearly seen in the artwork, for which she is now internationally renowned.

Born 1945, Newark, New York, USA. The artist now lives and works in Los Angeles and New York. You can find her artwork in exhibitions around the world. There are also several books published about her art.
